Considering we're actually in a nice place we should make the most of it. I'm shopping. Since I don't have my best friend it'd be nice to have someone else to shop with.

[ She means it nicer than it sounds, it's just a Lydia thing. Shopping is definitely more fun with others ]

[ And she actually means anyone. She won't deprive someone of shopping, she'll just deal with the 'no killing' if she has to ]

She'd been looking at the clothes a few moments before, and judging by the handful of coat hangers she's carrying it has been going well. Obviously. But now she just needs shoes to go with it ]

There's nothing more depressing than shopping all by yourself. I'm happy to help.

And get a new pair of boots. [ Because what's a pair of boots with unlimited cash? And a new friend. It wasn't a bargaining chip, maybe a thank you? ] Any of them.

You know, normally I would say you don't need to try so hard to win me over, but who am I to refuse new shoes?

What about you? [ She's posed the question vaguely because while she can't see why this girl wouldn't be a warden (at least from what she's seen so far) there are surprising things) ]

[Elena shrugs. She doesn't particularly care if Lydia knows she's a warden or inmate, but she's not immediately supplying that she's an inmate either.]

I'd rather be back home, but there's not much choice.

If you have to do this there usually isn't.

[ Warden or inmate. Some people might go to the barge just to help but Lydia did it because there wasn't another option ]

I'm still waiting to see if it's what everyone says.

You just must not be talking to the right people then. I haven't been here all that long, but I've seen plenty of wardens try to pretend like the deals aren't a thing or motivation.

Me? I'd rather just be honest.

Helping someone is just what I have to do to get what I want. And I need to get it.

What is it?

To stop a pack of werewolves from killing everyone. [ Oh so matter of factly. What, weird things are normal here ]

Werewolves are pretty much extinct where I'm from.

[Not that weird for Elena.]

I wouldn't complain if these suddenly happened to find themselves that way. [ She could throw a party ]

How'd it happen?

The vampires tried to eradicate them. Thousand year long feud between the species, you know. The stuff of B-horror movies.

If I knew a vampire I'd know where to go. [ Maybe her vampire is the Admiral, or that'll be her solution later ]

I used to date one. Two, actually. Not much worth the drama.

That I'd agree on. [ Not that she knows the vampire part but her boyfriend was a kanima so... ] I'm glad I'm just stuck with werewolves, then.

You didn't even give me a chance to mention the hybrids. Those are real fun.

How much exactly do you have?

Just those as far as I know.

Then I think this is the first time I'd rather be just in my world. [ Or that there is only werewolves. So she knows so far, anyway ]

How do you manage?

[Elena shrugs.]

Put my life in danger about once a year, occasionally die. Takes the tension out of it anyway.

You say that as if it's not a big deal.

It's not at this point.

[Elena shrugs a little and looks at Lydia.]

I was ritually sacrificed last year. It doesn't really get much worse than that.

I'd think that was a big deal. People dying, crap happening where you could die? Life isn't nothing.
