CRAU History and Impact:
Personality:
FIERCE. Lydia is a fierce and self-confident individual, someone that knows exactly what she wants and isn't afraid to go and get it. Her tenacity initially kept people at bay, having her seem very cold and closed-off, a very shallow girl but it was all really a mask to hide who she was -- someone that cared about her friends, wanted to be cared for and was incredibly intelligent and it was this intelligence as well as her desire to be seen as cool and popular that led to her mask. Lydia later used that same tenacity to help her friends even when she didn't know what they were doing. She is unrelenting, has a cool exterior under pressure and refuses to back down in the face of danger even when she's afraid. Lydia is someone that supernatural creatures have feared, not because of physical strength or her abilities but because of her intelligence and her desire to use it, to be able to stop them through sheer will. She's also very direct in how she speaks to people, a very bossy and at times demanding nature which can make it difficult to refuse her request if you're not as stubborn as she is.

KIND. Lydia is a very kind person, often hidden by her cooler facade. It's something that's more evident with her friends, Lydia risking her own life to save her friends, walking into danger for them. Over the years as Beacon Hills became more dangerous it wasn't just her friends that Lydia tried to help but classmates around her, even strangers. She has a kind heart at her core, unable to see someone in danger and not ask if they're okay, to try and do something to help them whether the cause of their pain and sadness is natural or supernatural. Even the people that are trying to hurt those around them Lydia gives a chance. Scott's pack believes in helping people, not killing them, trying to stop them through non-lethal means. As a banshee, Lydia knows when people are in trouble or close to death and after initially finding the bodies of those that had died decided to try to use her abilities to save someone from dying instead of simply being the messenger, something that took her a while to figure out but she's proven able to do it, saving people not only as a banshee but through her intelligence and problem solving and just in trying to help them.

RESILIENT. She doesn't simply quit in the face of adversity, particularly not when people are in danger or someone needs help. Lydia often faces terrifying and dangerous situations, situations where even though her friends have a plan things don't often work. It would be easy to quit after that, to say that they tried but it's too difficult but when lives are on the line (others as well as their own) Lydia doesn't just walk away from a situation, knowing that more people would be hurt if she didn't keep trying. Lydia also knows that her abilities can help her to save lives which helps her to remain determined, having seen too much death already and whilst these situations scare Lydia the alternative is death, something of her own that she's faced too often already. The plans that she and her friends come up with also seem quite impossible, though impossible situations need impossible solutions. It's their determination in being able to save people as well as their good natures that help make it work, with those they're facing overestimating the power of goodness and how much determination they have -- by having something to lose it also means that they have so much to give, so much hope and willingness to save other lives. Lydia's resilience and her fierce, unrelenting nature also makes her incredibly stubborn -- she's unwilling to give up on her friends or what she believes is right, pushing and creating a strong argument using her intelligence to make someone else back down, making herself seem intimidating to others.

SELF-MOTIVATED. Lydia is incredibly motivated, not just in helping people but in all that she does. It's how, despite the situations that befall her friends, Lydia was able to maintain a 5.0 GPA throughout school and earn herself enough credits in her junior year to have been able to graduate then. Before being involved in the supernatural Lydia did a lot of studying outside of school, things unrelated to what she was studying at school including teaching herself Latin and then archaic Latin simply because she'd gotten bored. Lydia's motivation to her studies gives her a huge knowledge base, something that later helps her when facing the supernatural. Her motivation and her stubbornness also help her when she helps others, refusing to give up on them, searching for other explanations or ways that she can help them, going out of her way even when no one else is with her. Lydia's motivation has helped to keep her alive, helping her to figure out problems to supernatural issues, learn about her own abilities and even save her own life when she was trapped in Eichen House by waking herself from her catatonic state. This direction particularly helps when no one believes her -- after Stiles was taken by the Ghost Riders and thus wiped from everyone's memories Lydia had a vague familiarity of needing to remember something, leading her to track this down (alone) to figure out the answer, something she could have given up on at any point but refused out of a need for the answer.

INQUISITIVE. Lydia has always been a curious person, something she occasionally wasn't true given that it leans her to dead bodies but she wouldn't be able to forgive herself if she didn't follow those impulses. Her curiosity has lead to a healthy study life, Lydia learning more than simply what's required of school, the same curiosity increasing her knowledge base when it comes to the supernatural, leading to Lydia usually being the one to know something more about the situation, a clue or piece of mythology that no one else has yet read. Her curious nature was particularly highlighted after her banshee abilities were activated. Lydia could have just allowed herself to be a harbinger of death, a messenger for those that had died but rather than simply signal death she chose to follow it. Initially, her abilities drew her to the bodies but she later helped Scott investigate what happened in Beacon Hills by choice, wanting to both find and save people from what was happening. Without her own curiosity, she wouldn't have been able to strengthen her abilities to harness them at will nor help to save lives.

Abilities/Powers/Weaknesses & Warping:
BANSHEE. As a banshee, Lydia is a harbinger of death, commonly found wherever someone has recently died or is about to die. Though she has abilities Lydia is not a supernatural creature, able to cross over mountain ash that would barricade against other supernatural creatures.
( banshee scream ) her scream is the first indicator of death, used as a signal that travels great distances to alert of impending death. Lydia is also able to use her scream as a weapon, directing a powerful shockwave to push enemies away, shatter glass or (if amplified enough) can kill. [1] [2] [3]
( premonition ) an innate ability, banshees are able to sense when someone is close to death or has recently died. Initially, a feeling, Lydia has begun to be able to visibly see the premonition of who is about to die, something she could become lost in if she were unable to focus. Through seeing the death Lydia is able to attempt to prevent it, previously using her scream to distract an attacker (from far away) or to get someone else there to help. Her premonitions can often be triggered by auditory cues, appearing randomly and often at very inconvenient moments. As she trains her abilities Lydia has tried various ways of calling a premonition through hypnosis, trying to find an auditory cue or honing in on the whispers around her, sometimes with success and sometimes not. [1]
( spirit world ) banshees are connected to the spirit world, able to hear the voices in their heads of other banshees as well as other spirits. This can overload Lydia, sounding like a high pitched buzzing, causing her to need to scream to silence the voices and allowing her to focus on one specific voice. Lydia is also able to see spirits around her in a time of crisis, able to communicate with them for brief moments, though she isn't yet able to get much clarity from them. When in a coma Lydia was able to access the spirit world herself, having a conversation with another banshee (Meredith Walker) and learning more about what she could do with her abilities. Banshees are able to access their power in the spirit world, as Lydia saw a premonition and used her scream to come out of the coma as well as act on the premonition. [1]
IMMUNITY. As a banshee, Lydia is immune to the bite of a werewolf though she is still vulnerable to other supernatural influences (such as kanima venom).
INTELLIGENCE. Lydia has a 5.0 GPA, took enough AP courses in her junior year to be only taking one class as a senior, has a fantastic memory and knowledge base and self-taught herself both classic and archaic Latin. Lydia is also a natural leader, able to think outside of the box to come up with a solution to a problem and is seen as a threat because of her intelligence rather than any fighting or supernatural abilities.
COMBAT. though new to her training, Lydia has shown to be a fast learner, possessing high skill and great muscle memory. [1]

WARPS. Rather than have Lydia's abilities alert her to every person's death in Deerington (and scream) I'd like to warp it so that it's not an accurate reading, that either her premonitions could highlight the right person or a wrong person (with ooc plotting) or that rather than being given a full premonition she only hears the buzzing/whispers and knows something will happen but doesn't know to who.

None of this made sense. People were being taken but this... being erased was one thing but just being taken to another town? It didn't make sense and nothing like this was in any of the legends -- once you saw the ghost riders that was it, you were gone but... was it really transporting you somewhere, a supernatural displacement? But then the people that they'd already taken would she know them? She was erased now too but...

Lydia had found the book next to her when she'd woken, taking it downstairs to her kitchen table, reading over it and over it, absorbing every last bit of detail that she could to try and figure something out. But all she had now was a headache and the words on the page were frustrating to her, something that made her angrily close the book.

"Okay, Lydia, think. Think. They're taking people, they've now taken you but why leave you with a book all about them? To taunt you? And what about... okay, it's not like you remember anyone that was already taken but... And now you're talking to yourself. Again."

That part wasn't new, sometimes it was easier to puzzle it out when you said it aloud but this now felt ridiculous. Which was exactly why she was pulling out her device, opening it up to the network and... placing it on the table.

"Okay, if other people are here then they've been taken too. So finding out if anyone is from Beacon Hills..." She groaned in frustration. What would it do other than letting them know they were from the same place? Although together maybe, just maybe they'd find some way to escape. Finally thinking of something it made her pick her device up, texting something out to the network.
beacon hills. is that name familiar to anyone?
